Tasks
Even though the original purpose of establishing Wroclaw Medical University Press in 1976 was to enable fast publishing of works in order to facilitate the scientific development, in recent years, we have expanded the field of our activity. Currently, we focus on the promotion of the successes of Polish researchers in Poland and abroad. It influenced our decision to publish in English. We take care about high publishing quality and scientific excellence of our works, intended for the scientists and students.
The important aspect of our activity is the availability. Many publications that we have worked on are published in electronic version (in Open Access model). The international distribution and the presence in the most popular scientific databases are of a great importance.
We publish monographs, scientific journals (in English language), academic books, lecture scripts, conference and symposium materials and commemorative publications. The authors of our publications are acknowledged research workers of various scientific institutions. Scientific disciplines that are of great interest for us include: Medicine, Pedagogy, Cognitive Science and Social Communication, Medical Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, as well as Automation and Robotics.
Our review policies and procedures are in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Science guidelines. We use antiplagiarism services that protect the originality in scientific research. We follow closely Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) procedures that indicate the advised action in case of any form of scientific misconduct. Any signs of scientific misconduct, such as guest authorship – the situation in which the author's contribution was minor or didn't happen and yet he is stated as the author of the publication; or ghostwriting – the situation in which the author significantly contributed to the publication yet he is not listed as the co-author of a work, are continuously monitored.
The review policies for the manuscripts submitted for publication are in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Science guidelines, included in „Dobre praktyki w procedurach recenzyjnych w nauce” [“Good practise in the procedures of reviewing scientific writing”] brochure.
Journals
Our journals comply with the formal requirements of Ministry of Education and Science. They are indexed in the most prestigious global scientific databases (ex. MEDLINE, Scopus, Index Copernicus, Science Citation Index Expanded, Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition).
We publish journals from various areas of science, such as: Medicine, Clinical and Experimental Research („Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine”), The Science of Composite Materials (“Polimers in Medicine”), Dentistry and Dental Surgery (“Dental and Medical Problems”).
We take care of administrative procedures, editorial and typographical preparation of the publications, website support and development, and distribution of publications in Poland and abroad.
All journals are published online in Open Access model.
All articles published in our journals have an assigned DOI number.
Books
Our publishing press is a place where the traditional approach is merged with the modern view. Our publishing process has been meticulously developed over the years. At the same time, we utilize the most modern technological solutions in terms of the availability of publication materials, prepared by the scientists from various fields of medicine.
We publish:
- monographs and popular science books from different branches of medicine;
- academic books and lecture scripts;
- conference materials;
- publications of the academics from Wroclaw Medical University and outside.
Editorial Board
Wroclaw Medical University Press’ editorial board consists of qualified editors, desktop publishing operators and the distribution specialist. We guarantee:
- personal contact with the authors and the adaptation of the publication to their needs; the whole publication process carried out by one editor;
- language editing with the elements of content editing carried out by an experienced editor (also in English language);
- unique typographical project of the publication with a professional cover design;

We are experienced in the international cooperation. Numerous authors of our articles and publications are affiliated with well-known international research centres.

- contact with libraries and scientific institutions in Poland and abroad;
- Wroclaw Medical University Press selling point, serving Polish and foreign clients and enabling 24-hour order taking.
